Ayala Corporation’s Healthway Cancer Care Hospital in Taguig City is partnering with AstraZeneca to operate its Lung Center of Excellence (Lung COE) and a dedicated Lung Nodule Clinic.

This initiative is designed to provide “comprehensive, human-centric care, from early detection and diagnosis to advanced treatment and survivorship,” the Ayala conglomerate said in a statement Saturday.

The Lung COE, run by Ayala through unit AC Health, offers services for the two main types of lung cancer: non-small cell lung cancer and the more aggressive small cell lung cancer.

“Through a collaboration with AstraZeneca and AI developer Qure.ai, HCCH is enhancing lung cancer detection with AI-powered chest X-rays,” Ayala said.

For early detection, the center also utilizes low-dose CT scans (LDCT) for effective lung cancer screening.

Dr. Gerardo Cornelio of HCCH Lung CoE  said the hospital aims to be “the leading center for screening, detection, diagnosis, and treatment of thoracic malignancies in the Philippines.”

“And we want to make this bigger, at least in Asia, in the next couple of years,” he said.

Unveiled in 2023, HCCH in Arca South is he first specialty hospital for cancer treatment in the country.

The 100-bed specialty hospital spanning five floors has four specialized operating theaters and two advanced endoscopy rooms. The facility also boasts an expanded outpatient chemotherapy unit, and an integrated outpatient department with a specialized women’s health center.

It will be the first comprehensive and dedicated cancer hospital in the country offering a complete range of cancer services, from screening, diagnosis, treatment, to post-cancer care, Ayala said.
