Following the exit of the Jazz, Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) yesterday launched the City hatchback to target an expanded market.
Slapped with a lower safeguard duty of P13,000 per unit as deposit for buyers – compared with P70,000 as provisional duty – the City Hatchback targets the market left off by the Jazz, particularly those looking for a sporty and stylish hatchback and those looking for a small sport utility vehicle.
HCPI general manager for sales Louie Soriano said in a press conference target sales is about 40 units a month, almost same as the actual sales of the Jazz.
HCPI president Masahiko Nakamura said the pandemic and the safeguard measures had made it difficult for the company as well as the whole industry to make any forecast in sales.
