The National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) is working with various agencies and local government units (LGUs) in crafting guidelines on online selling of meat products.
“We are not prohibiting online selling (of meat) but we’d like to have a semblance of regulation to assure consumers that what they buy is a product from a legitimate value chain that came from a proper farm and has no disease,” said
Reildrin Morales, NMIS executive director.
In a virtual briefing, Morales noted need to educate customers on the dangers of buying cheap meat online.
He said online sellers should sure proper handling of meat products.
