The Government Service and Insurance System (GSIS) yesterday said it is investigating a data breach incident in one of its computers that was reported by its security partner.

In a statement, GSIS said it received at 5:20 p.m. yesterday a notice from its security partner that a local threat actor had compromised the administrator account of one of the pension fund’s computers.

The GSIS said the  affected computer, which has since been taken offline,   is a test computer and contains dummy data used for the tests.

The agency said it is actively investigating the incident to assess the extent of the breach and is now validating the claims of the intruder to ensure full compliance with the requirements of the Data Privacy Act.

GSIS assured  employees, members and pensioners of the protection of their information is of utmost priority.

It added it is  implementing needed measures to protect its systems and information.

“GSIS will continue to take all actions needed to ensure the security and privacy of the information entrusted to us,” it said.
