THE Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) is extending again the deadline for the Annual Pensioners’ Information Revalidation (APIR) to end-June 2020, the pension fund said in a statement yesterday.
APIR requires all old-age and survivorship pensioners to personally appear before GSIS offices during their birth months as a prerequisite to continue receiving their pensions.
However, due to the continued threat of the coronavirus disease, GSIS announced that the deadline for pensioners’ APIR was moved for the second time in a row, from May 15 to June 30, to safeguard the well-being of its elderly pensioners who are the most vulnerable to the virus.
“Old-age and survivorship pensioners born in March, April, and May need not go to GSIS branches to renew their active status for the time being. We advise them to postpone visiting our branches,” Rolando Macasaet, GSIS president and general manager, said.
“They can do their APIR at a later date through our GSIS Wireless Automated Processing System kiosks located in large government offices, provincial capitols, city and municipal offices, selected SM and Robinsons malls and GSIS offices. Anyway, they have until June 30, 2020 to do their APIR,” he added.
Pensioners who have inquiries on the APIR extension may visit the GSIS website, www.gsis.gov.ph, or GSIS Facebook page @gsis.ph; email gsiscares@gsis.gov.ph; or call the GSIS Contact Center at 8847-4747 (if in Metro Manila) or 1-800-8-847-4747 (for Globe and TM subscribers) and 1-800-10-847-4747 (for Smart, Sun and Talk ‘N’ Text subscribers).
“We are closely monitoring the situation and will be issuing further advisories as developments unfold. But for now, I would like to assure our pensioners that their safety is our primordial concern,” Macasaet said.
