Grab Philippines has partnered with the local governments of Pasig City and Quezon City to roll out a new service that taps tricycle drivers for inter-city delivery services.
Grab initially launched the GrabMart trike delivery this quarter in Pasig through a partnership with thelocal government unit (LGU) and the city’s Tricycle Operation and Regulatory Office to onboard tricycle drivers.
Close to 1,000 groceries and GrabMart orders have been delivered within Pasig City since the launch of the new delivery service.
Grab said it is currently in talks with the office of Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto to upscale the number of tricycle drivers onboarded to the platform.
The company has also started to onboard tricycle driver-partners in partnership with the Quezon City LGU to roll out the new service within the city before the fourth quarter of 2022.
The success of the pilot rollout of GrabMart trike delivery in Pasig prompted the future expansion of the program in additional areas, starting with Quezon City.
Last month, Grab acquired motorcycle taxi firm MOVE IT to address the high demand for the service in Metro Manila. Grab targets to onboard about 6,000 drivers this year.
