Grab seeks up to 20K TNVS slots

Grab Philippines is seeking an additional 10,000 to 20,000 Transportation Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) slots from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to address the anticipated surge in demand during the holiday season.

Grace Vera Cruz, country head, of Grab Philippines told reporters recently the company is in talks with the Department of Transportation and LTFRB and anticipates a response on the request before November.

“We are expecting a lot of inbound traffic and tourists and… we need at least 10,000 to 20,000 more (TNVS slot)” she said

Grab has 40,000 active driver partners. This is lower than the the pre-pandemic level of 60,000.

The company is planning to expand operations in Mindanao and North Luzon.

Grab said it will launch the ride-hailing services in Davao in October with 1,500 initial slots.

Next year, the company will also expand operations in North Luzon such as Tuguegarao and Isabela. – Myla Iglesias
