Ride-hailing firm Grab Philippines yesterday said it remains committed to providing livelihood opportunities to half a million Filipinos amid a recent restructuring exercise implemented across its markets in the region.
Anthony Tan, Grab co-founder and chief executive officer, the company recently announced it is letting go of 1,000 of its employees, also called Grabbers, across different markets in Southeast Asia.
But Grab Philippines declined to give details on the number of affected employees locally except to say those affected will be adequately compensated with financial, professional and medical support.
These include the provision of severance payment of half a month for every six months of completed service, or based on local statutory guidelines, whichever is higher, as well as goodwill payment of an ex-gratia amount determined by Grab for forgone target bonus and equity. – Myla Iglesias
