Grab Philippines yesterday said it has submitted to the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) options on how it can comply with the refund order as a sign of its commitment to comply with its undertakings and commitments with the agency,

Grab made this statement after PCC on Monday announced it is set to rule whether or not Grab’s non-compliance to refund orders issued by the agency would merit fines.

Grab was ordered to refund its riders by PCC in several instances — for overcharging, violation of its voluntary commitment and pricing issues.

Aguinaldo said Grab has yet to refund its riders P5 million to P6 million, representing 30 percent of the amount which the company contested due to various reasons including difficulty to issue refunds. Grab said to date it has successfully disbursed 73 percent of the administrative fee, and continues to proactively work with the PCC to exhaust all possible measures towards the full depletion of the remaining 27 percent administrative fee.

Grab added it has provided PCC a set of disbursement options, and is presently awaiting the PCC’s decision so that the chosen option can be implemented immediately.

“Grab Philippines maintains utmost willingness and eagerness to work with the new Commission to fully resolve this matter a t the soonest possible time,” the company said. – Irma Isip
