Google has pledged to train 100,000 Filipinos in digital skills through a partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), targeting job-readiness in areas such as cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.
The initiative was announced Tuesday at the MSME Bayanihan Caravan in Pasay City, where Google’s global head for Government Affairs and Public Policy, Karan Bhatia, said the effort falls under the tech firm’s Career Certificates Program — a free online learning platform designed to boost employability in high-demand sectors.
Bhatia said the program will focus on skills considered critical to the “future of work,” including AI and cybersecurity, alongside other digital competencies relevant to today’s employers.
The DTI said the MSME Bayanihan Caravan, which runs until July 16, also marks the launch of its collaboration with Google.
The event features modules on digital tools, product development, export readiness, taxation, and specialized sessions on Halal markets, sustainability, and emerging AI applications for small businesses.
