“We are happy to secure this position as we maintain our stronghold in the Visayas. We recognize the importance of a reliable and stable internet connection to our customers’ daily lives, whether for work, education, or leisure. That’s why we are committed to delivering the best possible service to ensure that our customers can stay connected without interruption,” said Raymond Policarpio, Globe at Home broadband business vice president.

In the first quarter, Globe built 220 new cell sites and upgraded 3,000 mobile sites to Long Term Evolution. It also rolled out 118,000 fiber-to-the-home lines, as it shifted focus to maximizing its fiber inventory, the company said.

The company spent a record $1.9 billion last year on capital expenditures (capex). It also allocated an additional $2.3 billion for the next two years to further improve and expand its network infrastructure.

In 2022, Globe spent 86 percent of its capex on data requirements and ensuring that customers can access top-notch digital solutions and connectivity regardless of their location. The company said its efforts included the construction of 1,702 new cell sites, the upgrade of 13,600 mobile sites and the installation of 2,267 5G cell towers.
