Globe Telecom Inc. yesterday said it blocked almost 400,000 links and malicious websites containing child pornography last year, about 18 times more than the web links blocked in 2021, as the result of its $2.7 million investment in systems that filter content about child pornography, illegal gambling and online piracy.

This was in support of the government’s all-out war against online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC) in the country and also with the international community’s campaign to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones.

“Globe stands firmly behind the government’s anti-child pornography law and is committed to doing our part in protecting children from the dangers they may face on the internet. We have always been at the forefront of the fight against online sexual abuse and exploitation of children, and we will continue to take strong measures to restrict access to illegal sites,” said Anton Bonifacio, Globe chief information security officer. – Myla Iglesias
