Imperial Homes Corp. (IHC) launched the country’s first solar net-metered community at its Via Verde Trece Martires development in Cavite yesterday.
The company said the development will feature at least 500 residential houses that will generate solar energy which can be exported back to the grid in case of excess production.
Under the Energy Regulatory Commission’s (ERC) net-metering program, solar power facility owners with less than 100 kilowatts peak capacity can export their excess electricity to the grid in exchange for electricity bill credits that can be in the form of rebates.
Emma Imperial, IHC chairperson, said the 50,000-square meter Via Verde Trece Martires development is targeted for completion in 2025 and is expected to serve as a model for all affordable, resilient and sustainable projects in Cavite.
