 First Gen secures third LNG tender

First Gen Corp. has awarded a contract to TotalEnergies Gas and Power Asia Private Ltd. (TEGPA) to supply one liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo of approximately 154,500 cubic meters with delivery in early February.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange yesterday, the company said the cargo to be provided by TEGPA will  be delivered by a carrier and will be unloaded into the storage tanks of the BW Batangas floating storage and regasification unit  berthed in Batangas City.

First Gen said this LNG supply will also be utilized by the company’s existing gas-fired power plants.

This tender is  the third one secured by First Gen following contracts signed  earlier this year with Shell Eastern LNG as well as with Trafigura.

First Gen currently has a portfolio of four existing gas-fired power plants with a combined capacity of 2,017 megawatts (MW) that have been supplied for many years with gas from the Malampaya field.

The company, through its subsidiary, FGEN LNG Corp. has constructed an interim offshore LNG terminal project.

First Gen, as a power generation company, has a combined capacity of 3,500 MW with a portfolio utilizing natural gas, geothermal, hydroelectric, wind and solar power technologies.

First Gen is also planning to spend as much as $20 billion until 2030 to add up to 9,640 MW capacity and achieve a total portfolio of around 13,000 MW by that time.
