A Filipino outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) provider has opened a new production line at its facility in Cabuyao, Laguna, dedicated to serving its Taiwanese client, the Board of Investments (BOI) announced on Tuesday.
Automated Technology (Phil.) Inc. (ATEC) supplies the automotive electronics needs of Panjit International Inc. of Taiwan, the BOI said.
The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) announced in a social media post on Tuesday the Panjit Automotive Capture Line at ATEC was inaugurated on June 23 at the Light Industry and Science Park 1 in Laguna.
PEZA and the BOI did not provide cost figures but said ATEC’s expansion for a new captive production line for Panjit “further integrates the Philippines into the global semiconductor and automotive value chain, especially in the electric vehicle (EV) segment.
PEZA said Panjit is one of the largest semiconductor manufacturers headquartered in Taiwan, exporting to more than 10 countries.
The BOI said the expansion “bolsters ATEC’s capacity to deliver advanced semiconductor solutions tailored to Panjit’s multinational clients in the automotive industry.”
OSAT companies provide third-party packaging and testing services for integrated chips to semiconductor companies.
The BOI said ATEC plays a critical role in enabling high-value manufacturing in the country, while Panjit International manufactures, processes, assembles, and distributes semiconductors across various global markets.
ATEC, on its website, says it provides a full array of semiconductor assembly and test services, ranging from discrete to complex multi-chip packages, from low-volume, quick-turns to high-volume production.
It says its products are used in a wide range of applications, including voice and data communication, industrial, commercial, consumer electronics, office electronics, computers, military, automotive, and many other industries.
