Fernando Zobel de Ayala, Ayala Corp. president and vice chairman, is temporarily leaving his post due to health reasons.

The younger of the Zobel brothers at the helm of one of the oldest conglomerates in the country will remain as a member of the board of the company, Ayala Corp. in a statement.
Zobel’s functions will be taken over temporarily by Cezar Consing, Ayala director, as agreed by the company’s Board of Directors and endorsed by Ayala’s Corporate Governance and Nominations Committee.
Delfin Lazaro, Ayala director, will take the role of Zobel as vice chairman.
Ayala in a statement posted on its social media account, said it supports Zobel’s decision “to focus on improving his health and achieving complete recovery.”
“I want to assure everyone that Fernando is in high spirits, but he has asked for some time to focus on his health and recovery. We all have so many responsibilities and commitments in all aspects of our lives, but first and foremost, we should all prioritize our health and well-being,” said Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, Ayala chair.
“As a family, we’re fully supportive of Fernando’s decision to take a leave so he can do whatever is necessary to rebuild his strength. Let us all give Fernando the support he needs to focus on improving his health, and Bong and Del our confidence as they take on their new roles,” he added.
