Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) is ramping up its foray into the digital space as it expects traffic volume at its expressways to exceed the pre-pandemic level this year.
MPTC launched MPT DriveHub, an all-in-one mobile application offering a variety of mobility solutions that features three key functions — RFID transaction, trip planning and roadside assistance.
MPT DriveHub app, which is available for both iOS and Android devices, enables its users to manage their RFID accounts. Whether to check their balances or reload their accounts, it ensures a smoother and more efficient journey. It also allows users to easily calculate their toll fees to prepare payments ahead.
The new mobility solution also allows users to immediately request for roadside assistance by readily having the expressway hotline number in the app.
“This is just the beginning for MPT DriveHub. We are actively developing the app to introduce more services in the future such as e-wallets, motorists’ marketplace and electric vehicle charging locator map… We are open to partnership and app integrations to accelerate MPT DriveHub’s service offerings,” said Mark Raymund De Leon, MPT Mobility vice president for business development.
Rodrigo Franco, MPTC president and chief executive officer, said during the virtual launch expects traffic volume this year to surpass the pre-pandemic level in 2019.
“The expressway business is a lot better than 2020, even compared to last year. For this month, our traffic is already exceeding a little bit the 2019, so we can say we are exceeding the pre-pandemic level already by this month,” he said. “We expect traffic to be higher than 2019 already.”
The company sees traffic volume increasing by 10 percent if there will be no more government-imposed mobility restrictions.
MPTC’s toll road network includes the North Luzon, Subic-Clark-Tarlac, Manila-Cavite, Cavite-Laguna and the Cebu Cordova Link expressways. – Myla Iglesias
