The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) continues to ramp up the construction works for Estrella Pantaleon bridge project which is targetted to be completed this year.
DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said the Estrella- Pantaleon or Rockwell bridge has entered wrapup stage with the substructure and superstructure already completed.
To date, the project is 88 percent complete and in keeping with the 2021 target completion following the final concrete-pouring of bridge deck slab last Friday.
An important connectivity projects across Pasig River and intended to decongest EDSA traffic, the old two-way, two lane steel truss bridge was replaced with a prestressed concrete rigid frame bridge having a four -lane concrete deck slab 506.46 lineal meters in length. Once open to motorists, the widened bridge will be able to accommodate around 50,000 vehicles per day.
The bridge, which connects Estrella street in Makati City and Barangka Drive in Mandaluyong City is one of the two grant bridges from the People’s Republic China.
