Emperador taps Meralco subsidiary for Laguna rooftop solar project in Laguna plant

MANILA Electric Co. subsidiary MSpectrum has signed an agreement with brandy and whisky producer Emperador Inc. unit Emperador Distillers Inc. (EDI) for the installation of a 640- kilowatt peak solar facility.

MSpectrum said in a statement yesterday the project will be put up at EDI’s Sta. Rosa manufacturing plant in Laguna that is expected to generate approximately 832,798 kilowatt hour of clean energy annually.

The project will allow EDI to reduce its carbon footprint by an estimated 593.12 metric tons, translating to more than 27,242 trees planted and more than 2.36 million kilometers reduced in vehicle travel per year.

The project cost was not disclosed.
