Independent tower company EdgePoint Towers Inc. (EdgePoint Philippines) is on track to bridge digital connectivity gap across the country through its ongoing tower expansion in Luzon and the Visayas.
In a statement on Monday, EdgetPoint Philippines said it has achieved three milestones in the first quarter of 2025. These include the completion of over 300 co-locations, 100 built-to-suit (BTS) sites, and the deployment of its first two BTS sites in the Visayas region of Central Philippines.
EdgePoint began its operations in the Philippines in 2022 through the acquisition of 2,934 towers from the PLDT Group, along with continued organic growth. This move aligns with the country’s Common Tower Policy, which aims to encourage infrastructure sharing and lower operational costs for telecommunications providers.
William Walters, EdgePoint Philippines chief executive officer said initially the company acquired sites in Luzon, with a few in Visayas and new BTS projects in the region which represent an expansion of their organic footprint beyond Luzon.
“Building in Visayas presents challenges due to its varied geography, remote islands, and rugged terrain, which can make construction and logistics more complex and costly, so we are pleased to be expanding in this region with successful delivery of our initial BTS sites” he added.
