ECCP lists measures to improve trade

The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) has expressed support to measures that will aid logistical efficiency as well as customs and trade facilitation.

This as the group lauded the improved rating of the Philippines in  the World Bank Logistics Performance Index (LPI).

The LPI report  puts the Philippines on the 43rd spot out of 139 countries up 17 places.

“In an increasingly globalized world, seamless and sustainable trade is essential,” ECCP said in a statement posted online.

But the group said trade  can be further improved through the following: timely implemention of the 10-year Maritime Industry Development Plan (MIDP); full operationalization of the National Single Window (NSW) and integrating it with the Asean Single Window (ASW); upholding the International Commerce Terminology (INCOTerms); and officially clarifying the lead government agency responsible for matter relating to shipping rates and port congestion. – Irma Isip
