Eagle Cement Corp. said it expects to complete its new cement mill by the fourth quarter as the new coronavirus disease pushed the timetable of the project.
Paul Ang, Eagle Cement president, said the new cement mill will add two million metric tons (MMT) to its 7.1 MMT annual capacity, complementing the company’s 18 percent compounded market share growth.
“This plan was supposed to have been turned over and commissioned in the second quarter of this year. But because of the pandemic, management is committing to deliver this plan by end quarter of this year,” Ang said at Eagle Cement’s shareholders meeting yesterday.
The cement mill forms part of Eagle Cement’s third line, which will allow the company to expand its market reach to the Bicol and Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) regions.
Ang said Eagle Cement is in the process of digital transformation which allows customers to book and track their orders online.
Eagle in June said the company plans to spend P4.5 billion in capital expenditures (capex) this year, mainly for its facilities in Luzon.
