The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has seized 1,543 pieces of fireworks and issued notices of violation to four sellers at yesterday’s surprise monitoring of some establishments in Bocaue Bulacan, according to DTI assistant secretary Amanda Nograles.
Nograles said the violations pertain to licenses.
Nograles said the operations covered 33 establishments.
In a televised interview, Nograles advised consumers to buy only from licensed retailers and and make sure the firecrackers or fireworks they are buying have Philippine Standard (PS) mark.
She said there are only 15 authorized manufacturers, the list of which can be viewed on the DTI website.
She also reiterated the sale of imported finished firecrackers/fireworks is prohibited.
Nograles said the Philippine National Police also prohibits the sale of firecrackers/fireworks in malls and other enclosed spaces.
