The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has secured over 70 percent of the right-of-way for the P23.5-billion Samal Island-Davao City Connector (SIDC) project.

This will ramp up the construction of the SIDC, which will link Davao City and Samal Island with a four-lane extradosed bridge, the DPWH said yesterday.

Emil Sadain, DPWH senior undersecretary, said in a statement the bridge’s foundation works are advancing as planned and the SIDC project is on track to meet its completion deadline by September 2028.

The project’s overall physical accomplishment stood at 11.9 percent and its positive slippage at 4.35 percent, according to DPWH.

Work on the project is progressing steadily, with 73 out of 110 piles for the land viaduct on the Davao City side have been completed, while all 74 piles for the Samal Island side land viaduct are finished, DPWH added.
