DMCI Mining Corp. is set to open two new mining sites next year.
Tulsi Das Reyes, DMCI Mining president, told reporters in Makati City last week a site in Zambales will operate by first quarter next year while the other will be opened by the second quarter.
The Zambales asset will be operated by Zambales Chromite Mining Co. (ZCMC) and will produce nickel ore. The company was only acquired from British operators and used the corporate name in processing for permits.
Earlier, DMCI Mining said it is on track to hit record nickel production and shipment this year, after recording notable improvements in the first half of 2023.
The company through its parent firm, DMCI Holdings Inc. said that from January to June, production nearly doubled and jumped by 98 percent from 567,000 wet metric tons (WMT) in 2021 to 1.12 million WMT this year for the same period.
