DMCI Power Corp. recorded a 7- percent increase in sales volume in 2023 to 454 gigawatt hours (GWh) from 426 GWh in 2022 due to higher demand.

“Our sales have grown steadily for 11 consecutive quarters because of solid demand and our targeted investments in underserved and unserved areas, reflecting our dedication to missionary electrification,” said Antonino Gatdula Jr., DMCI Power president, in a statement.

The company said last year, Palawan overtook Masbate as its largest market, contributing 44 percent to the total sales volume, while Masbate and Oriental Mindoro accounted for 34 percent and 22 percent, respectively.

DMCI Power said Palawan energy sales expanded by 12 percent from 179 GWh to 200 GWh on the combined effect of higher capacity and demand.

Last August, the company started the commercial operations of its P1.5- billion thermal power plant in the province, coinciding with a surge in both local and international tourist arrivals in the area.

Energy dispatch in Masbate advanced by 5 percent from 148 GWh to 156 GWh owing to higher demand and plant availability while sales to Oriental Mindoro was reduced by 2 percent from 99 GWh to 97 GWh due to increased availability of renewable energy power plants.
