Isidro Consunji, DMCI Holdings Inc. president, said the company looks to invest more in agriculture.
Speaking at the sidelines of the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) meeting where he was awarded the MAP Management Man of the year, Consunji said his family isfinalizing the plans which will involve large track of lands in Western Visayas and Mindanao.
Among the products that the Consunji family is looking at is palm oil and another one that will involve carbon credits.
Consunji said the venture will not require “ a lot of cash but lots of management skills.”
Currently the Consunjis have an agriculture venture in Mindanao.
Consunji said he has talked with Environment Secretary Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga for the viable areas for the carbon credits ventures.
In his award acceptance speech, Consunji gave credit to the people that helped him steer DMCI over the years since it was listed in the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) in 1995.
He also acknowledged his siblings, who he said supported and worked together with in the family’s businesses. He thanked creditors, clients, and other business partners.
