DITO Telecommunity Corp. is confident of passing the government’s third audit set this July as its population coverage has reached over 60 percent.
DITO yesterday marked its first year of commercial operation.
Last June, DITO entered the National Capital Region and some parts of Luzon, with a total of 100 cities and municipalities including Metro Manila.
“We are in more than 500 cities and municipalities and soon will cover 70 percent of the population in just a few more months — finally going head-to-head against our two competitors,” said Dennis Uy, DITO chief executive officer.
Rodolfo Santiago, DITO chief technology officer, in a virtual event said the company needs less than 300 towers to be able to have more than enough to have 70 percent national coverage by July 8.
To date, DITO has built more than 4,100 towers and has over 83,000 sales touch points and 16 stores. It has over 6 million active subscribers which is half of its target of 12 million subscribers this year.
“The rate of our rollout has been outstanding, faster than any other local telco even with the pandemic. Through a strong innovative spirit, we have been able to put up a strong 4G and stand-alone 5G network unsaddled by legacy systems,” Santiago said.
DITO is offering new service innovations like advance pay and auto pay which can give as much as 40 percent discount on their pack purchase and up to 120 gigabytes (GB) of bonus quota.
It also offers home broadband service, the DITO 5G Home WiFi starter kit, which has a next generation 5G modem that gives subscribers up to 500 megabits per second of download speed, 50GB all-access data that is valid for 30 days and the only one bundled with a three-month subscription to HBO-GO. – Myla Iglesias
