DITO Telecommunity Corp. will likely increase its capital expenditure (capex) next year to support the aggressive expansion of its mobile and home broadband services.
This year, DITO has earmarked P27 billion in capex and the same budget will be allocated for next year.
However, Eric Alberto, DITO CME president, told reporters recently next year’s capex will likely increase depending on market demand.
“We will be as buoyant as the market,” said Alberto, adding the company is ramping up very aggressively.
“We started with prepaid and now aggressively pushing on postpaid and now moving to the home on the fixed wireless product,” he said.
DITO’s capex is part of its P257-billion committed investment over a five-year period to achieve a minimum internet speed of 55 megabits per second (Mbps) and expand its coverage to 85 percent of the population.
Recently, DITO passed the fourth audit of the National Telecommunications Commission.
Last week, it launched its new mobile postpaid FlexPlans and Home Unli 5G Wifi.
According to Evelyn Jimenez, DITO chief commercial officer, the company aims to end the year with 50,000 home broadband subscribers.
DITO Home is available in select areas in the National Capital Region, Cebu, Laguna, Cavite and Davao, both for postpaid and prepaid plans.
DITO Home Unli 5G Wifi is a postpaid broadband subscription that provides 5G internet speeds at home of up to 500 Mbps for P1,490 per month.
A data-capped postpaid plan with 200 GB monthly data allocation is also available for P990 per month.
