Third telecom provider DITO Telecommunity Corp. is confident it will pass its fifth and last technical audit set in July, as it makes progress on its network rollout nationwide.

DITO’s network coverage nationwide is at 82 percent and this will hit 84 percent by July, and further increase to 87 percent by year-end, Rodolfo Santiago, DITO chief technology officer, said in an interview on the sidelines of DITO’s launch of its latest campaign.

“We are targeting 86 to 87 percent (network coverage) before the year-end to strengthen our current coverage, providing more reliability, redundancy and capacity,” Santiago said.

Under DITO’s five-year commitment with the National Telecommunications Commission as a new telecom player, the company has to deliver an average of 55 megabits per second (Mbps) of internet spend on its fifth year or this July.

Last year, DITO passed its fourth technical audit as it delivered way above the required network rollout, with 80.65 percent network coverage and a combined minimum average broadband speed of 357.14 Mbps.

Eric Alberto, DITO chief executive officer and president, said 2024 is a good start for DITO after Opensignal awarded the telco for being superior in nine out of 11 categories which affirmed its network expansion and optimization.

Ookla awarded DITO as the No. 1 mobile network in the country after it achieved a rating of 3.6 based on comprehensive data collected from July 1 to 31, 2023.
