Direct-selling, known for its personalized approach in retail using sales agents, has taken a new form due to the pandemic.
Amway Philippines said it is on its way to recovery after a brief setback during the quarantines and remains on track to hit double-digit growth in sales this year.
Leni Olmedo, Amway Philippines country manager, in a press conference yesterday said growth is driven by its supplements and home and personal care lines as well as its shift to electronic commerce.
Olmeda also sees a 10-percent increase in the number of Amway business owners (ABOs) from 80,000 at the end of 2019 as more Filipinos look for means to augment their incomes.
She said the launch next month of the Amway Exclusive Shoppers – where customers can transact directly on the company’s shopping portal – will attract more ABOs who will be assigned to these shoppers.
Olmeda said Amway has seen a 130-percent surge in the number of ABOs from April to June.
Amway also upgraded its website last month that has facilitated purchases of ABOs .
Sales events by ABOs have also shifted online, according to Almeda.
The number of ABOs purchasing Amway products online grew from 8 percent to 40 percent during the enhanced community quarantine months and recently to 70 percent with the launch of the upgraded website in August.
