DigiPlus Interactive Corp. said it is encouraged by the recognition it received from Fortune Magazine, with the company’s inclusion in Fortune’s maiden Fortune Southeast Asia 500.
DigiPlus is one of the 38 Philippine companies that made it on the list, ranking 482nd overall with a revenue of $490.2 million and a $73.4 million profit.
The Fortune Southeast Asia 500 ranked Southeast Asia companies based on their revenues as of last year to come up with the most profitable businesses in the region.
Companies that made the cut generated $1.79 trillion in revenue last year.
Fortune noted that this was a 2.5 percent from the previous year. Earnings meanwhile contracted 9.6 percent to nearly $130 billion.
“With this new list, we turn the spotlight on the impressive growth story of Southeast Asia and the companies driving this diverse region and its economies,” said Khoon-Fong Ang, Fortune’s chief of operations for Asia.
“We thank Fortune for recognizing the promising growth and development of the region by introducing the first Fortune Southeast Asia 500 list. We are honored to be a part of this milestone,” Andy Tsui, DigiPlus president, said.
“Companies included in the Southeast Asia 500 join an elite group of firms recognized under the Fortune 500 franchise, which spans the original Fortune 500, the Fortune Global 500, the Fortune Europe 500, and the Fortune China 500,” Tsui also said.
Philippines-based companies included in the list, San Miguel Corp. topped its peers with a $26.03 billion revenues last year (ranking the conglomerate at 9th in the region).
Joining San Miguel in the top three are SM Investments Corp. (ranked 27th with a $10.28 billion revenue) and Manila Electric Co. ( ranked 34th with a revenue of $7.98 billion).
DigiPlus said its profit growth was driven by its digital retail segment and new platforms. Its topline growth meanwhile was driven by the growth of its bingo platform BingoPlus and its sportsbook app ArenaPlus.
“We intend to sustain our growth momentum by continuing to invest in innovation and new technologies to enhance user experience and adding new digital offerings traditionally well-loved by Filipinos. By delivering innovative, fun, and accessible digital offerings, we aim to continue revolutionizing the entertainment space in the Philippines.” Tsui said.
Tsui noted DigiPlus is continuously ramping up its efforts to diversify its portfolio as it introduced BingoPlus Poker and Tongits+ in its roster of digital entertainment platforms this year.
