The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board yesterday approved the inclusion of Department of Education (DepEd) and the Department of Agriculture (DA) in the board to ensure priorities of the Marcos administration on food security and on the development of basic skills of Filipinos are attended to.
NEDA Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, in an interview after the NEDA Board meeting in Malacañang yesterday, said the secretaries of the DepEd and of the DA will finally be part of the board.
Balisacan said other issues discussed in the meeting are the status of the Civil Service Modernization Project which would improve the human resource management processes in the public sector and the request for the increase in cost and extension of implementation period and validity of loans.
He did not provide details.
Also discussed were the status of some priority infrastructure projects such as the Metro Manila Priority Bridges Seismic Improvement Project which will improve the safety and resilience of two bridges in Metro Manila – the Lambingan Bridge and Guadalupe Bridge.
Balisacan said the Board tackled the confirmation of referendum decisions on the upgrade, expansion, and operation and maintenance of the Bohol International Airport and the Laguindingan International Airport.
“We also reported on the progress in the implementation of the 186 infrastructure flagship projects and also how those relate with on the earlier reported as problematic ODA (official development assistance ) projects,” he added
