Twenty-five companies from the Czech Republic are exploring business and trade opportunities in the Philippines.
Marek Ví½brorní½, Minister of Agriculture Czech Republic, who led the 40-man delegation said he is set to sign a letter of intent with Secretary Herman Tiu Laurel of the Department of Agriculture on cooperation on agriculture and food.
Karel HejÄ, ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Philippines, said his country is expanding its employment program for citizens of the Philippines, from 2,500 work permits in 2023 to 10,500 work permits per year in various positions in agriculture, water management and forestry.
Ví½brorní½ said the Czech Republic can offer its expertise in genetic breeding of cattle, milk production, meat processing and innovation and technology in food as well as water management and forestry as they relate to science and research.
Czech Republic has the third highest milk yield in the European Union.
The minister said his country can introduce new businesses such as hop production for beer and its popular non-alcoholic beverage, Kofola.
Ví½brorní½ announced the entry of Egap, a banking and insurance company to insure business risks of Czech companies in the Philippines.
