Converge rolls out P2B fiber Internet

BORACAY ISLAND – Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has infused about P2 billion for the expansion of its fiber internet services in Aklan to further grow its enterprise and residential customers.

Converge has launched its fiber services in Boracay Island, initially offering the services to small and medium enterprises this month and then targeting the residential customers through offering both postpaid and prepaid services by June this year, said Dennis Anthony Uy, Converge co-founder and chief executive officer.

Uy said the company has spent around P2 billion for the expansion of fiber services in the entire Aklan and will expand the services to El Nido, Palawan.

“We started to venture outside of Luzon two years ago so our entry into the country’s hottest tourist destinations is an achievement for us. We are finally here in Boracay so now businesses of every size can harness the full potential of digitization with our pure fiber connectivity and tailored solutions. Our service does not only mean a better digital experience for their customers but a more seamless way of working and operating,” said Uy.

The company has fiber service in several municipalities in Aklan which include Kalibo, Numancia, New Washington, Banga, Malay, Lezo, Alvatas and Makatao.

“We want to provide the residents and businesses of Boracay with the best possible experience through our fast, reliable, consistent, and affordable digital solutions. With world-class fiber broadband connectivity, we assure you, Boracay will be a paradise reborn,” said Jesus Romero, Converge chief operations officer.

The hospitality industry is expected to be the biggest beneficiary of the company’s arrival as the island braces itself for the surge of local and international tourists after the lifting of pandemic restrictions and the abrupt government-imposed seven-month closure to rehabilitate the island.

Businesses and their patrons are expected to enjoy the benefits of seamless, secured and uninterrupted business-grade connectivity services, which local government officials declared will help increase the island’s revenue and cement its status as the ultimate world-class travel destination.

Meanwhile, local residents will have access to stable and affordable internet with Converge’s flagship connectivity product, FiberX.

“Local residents and small and medium enterprises within the island are just as important to us, so we are also offering the same wide range of award-winning, reasonably priced products to them that our subscribers from other parts of the country already enjoy. At Converge, we always make sure that we are offering the best connectivity solutions to uplift everyone,” said Orange Ramirez, Converge marketing head.

As of the first quarter, Converge has over 618,000 kilometers of fiber optic cable network, with 119,000 km terrestrial fiber backbone, 1,800 km subsea cables and 20 landing stations.
