Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has vowed to support micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in unserved and underserved locations by rolling out connectivity and digital infrastructure in far-flung areas.

Dennis Uy, Converge president and co-founder, yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Secretary Cristina Roque of the Department of Trade and Industry to help MSMEs digitalize their operations.

Converge will provide access to high-speed internet, cloud-based solutions, and digital marketing tools initially in underserved or unserved areas where Negosyo Centers are located. Negosyo Centes provide MSMEs access to government services in specific locations.

Roque said she has submitted to Converge a list of priority areas where strengthened connectivity will be provided.

Uy fsaid aside from connectivity and storage, MSMEs will gain access to hosted applications without having to invest in equipment. With just a tablet or a phone, MSMEs can use software that will handle their operations, from point-of-sale to inventory.

He said there is no shortage of opportunities for micro and small businesses when they are empowered with digital access, such as social media platforms that have now become marketplaces.

Roque said the DTI will take the lead in planning, coordinating, implementing, and promoting digital transformation initiatives for MSMEs, as well as providing support to other necessary resources.
