Manila Water Co. Inc. affiliate Clark Water has inaugurated additional solar power facilities in Pampanga.
New solar installations include a 19 kilowatts (kW) system at the Yakal warehouse within its office compound and a larger 52kW installation at the company’s pumping station 1 which will enhance the efficiency of one of primary water treatment facilities apart from generating annual savings of around P200,000.
Clark Water first ventured in renewable energy in 2019 with the installation of a 23 kW solar facility in its wastewater treatment plant that resulted in cost savings of approximately P500,000 since inception.
“Currently, we obtain from the solar power facility around 5 percent of the total power requirement of the pumping station 1 and we get around P40,000 to P50,000 savings on power cost monthly. Through this initiative, we also hope to reduce our carbon footprint that is also part of our sustainability goals in the company and I know this is also part of the advocacy of the Clark Development Corp.,” said Lyn Zamora, Clark Water general manager, in a statement.
