Clark International Airport has reported a significant growth in passenger traffic in May 2023 compared to last year, driven by the growing demand for air travel and the airlines’ expansion of new routes.
Luzon International Premier Airport Development (LIPAD) Corp., the consortium that manages Clark airport, said passenger traffic in May grew by 217 percent to 189,183 passengers from a year ago.
“May is a good month for Clark International Airport. We celebrated our first anniversary at the new terminal and we recorded this significant increase,” said Noel Manankil, LIPAD Corp. president and chief executive officer.
Of the total traffic volume, 73,336 were domestic passengers and 115,847 were international passengers, posting an increase of 617 percent and 134 percent, respectively.
LIPAD also said the airport received 54 percent more passengers compared with April’s 123,161 passengers, of which domestic passengers reached 35,814 and international passengers, 87,347.
The total number of flights in May was 1,537, of which 659 were domestic flights.
Last month, a total of 13 airlines operated at Clark International Airport, in which five of these are local carriers and eight are international companies. These serviced 19 routes: nine domestic and 10 international routes.
The destinations are Bacolod, Caticlan, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Cebu, Coron, El Nido, General Santos, Iloilo and Puerto Princesa as well as Bangkok, Busan, Doha, Dubai, Hong Kong, Incheon, Macau, Narita, Singapore and Taipei.
