China-based technology provider Trina Solar has signed a master services agreement with the Citicore Group for the supply of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules.
Under the agreement signed this month, Citicore through its engineering, procurement and construction arm, MCC-Citicore Construction Inc. will purchase 700 megawatts (MW) solar modules from Trina Solar to be delivered in 2024 for Citicore Renewable Energy Corp.’s (CREC) upcoming solar plants across the Philippines.
The partnership also includes Trina Solar’s flagship product range, Vertex solar PV modules that are developed for greater light absorption and high-density encapsulation technology to maximize the module’s surface area, among others.
“The procurement of PV panels from Trina Solar is part of our efforts to secure high-quality and efficient technology for our projects. This will help us move towards our goal of 1 gigawatt per year of RE capacity as per our commitment to the Filipino people,” said Oliver Tan, CREC president, in a statement.
Todd Li, Trina Solar Asia Pacific president, said the latest agreement is y their second collaboration with CREC.
The first was the deployment earlier this year of solar PV modules for the latter’s 125 MW Lumbangan and the 72 MW Luntal solar power projects both located in Batangas.
“The Philippines is a market with strong potential to harness solar energy for both consumer use and power production. We see enormous opportunities for deployment of solar to help the nation move towards a green net-zero future,” Li added.
