Chinese firm sets up factory in Subic

Chinese firm DXHIC is expanding its presence in Southeast Asia with the opening of its newest bag manufacturing facility in the Philippines this quarter.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in a statement said the Guangdong-based company is setting up operations in Subic under Good Manufacturing PH Leathers Inc.
Officials of DXHIC met DTI Undersecretary Ceferino Rodolfo recently in Shenzen.

at the sidelines of the 2023 Asean-China Greater Bay Area (Qianhai) Economic Cooperation Forum The DTI said the Chinese company supplies top international brands and will export its products from Subic to clients including those in Europe.

The project will employ 1,200 Filipinos by the end of this year and ramping up 5,000 employees.

Sloan Shao, one of the investors in the project cited the locational advantage of the Philippines in Asean and its proximity to the China Greater Bay Area, as well as the country’s dependable workforce in deciding on the location.

The Subic facility, although labor-intensive will also feature some top-of-the line equipment”¯to ensure fine quality demanded by the luxury accessories market.
