Century Pacific Food Inc. said it is venturing into the pet food market.

The company said it is introducing into the market the Goodest that meets the gold standard in pet nutrition set by the Association of American Feed Control Officials .

With Goodest, Century Pacific will try to take a slice of the $200- million mainly imported pet food market in the Philippines.

The company said it will initially introduce under Goodest an affordable cat food range.

“Its main products are all formulated with essential nutrients and minerals cats need for their daily food intake,” the company said.

The penetration of pet food is still very low in the Philippines versus our more affluent Asean neighbors. We expect this category to continue growing going forward,” said Christopher Po, Century Pacific executive chairman.

Alexander Lim, Century Pacific general manager for pet food said, the segment “holds a lot of promise” as a category as pet owners have now evolved into what they call fur parents.
