Cebu Pacific is set to finalize its planned acquisition of new aircraft from either Boeing or Airbus in the next three to six months.
Mike Szucs, Cebu Pacific chief executive officer, said the company is currently in talks with the two companies
“What we want is the right solution. We will look at the right outcome financially and operationally,” Szucs said in an interview.
Cebu Pacific is looking at the Boeing 737 Max and the A320 family, according to Szucs.
“In the coming week or two, we will formally launch the request for proposal,” he added.
When asked how many aircraft the company intends to purchase, Szucs said: “I would say it’s going to be a larger order than we’ve ever made in history.”
The airline said the aircraft order will not be split between the two giant aircraft manufacturers.
“It’ll be one or the other… we’re not going to split it between the two… It could be that we order a whole load of new Airbus again or it could be we order a whole load of Boeing,” Szucs said.
The new aircraft are expected to be delivered starting 2027 to 2028 until the next eight or nine years to address the anticipated surge in passenger traffic.
