Cebu Pacific (CEB) has received its first A321neo aircraft delivery this year.
CEB is set to receive 17 aircraft this year, of which three were delivered, with the other two being the Airbus 320ceo and Airbus NEO.
“We take pride in adding more SAF (sustainable aviation fuel)-powered aircraft into our growing fleet. This aircraft delivery represents the strides we are taking towards minimizing our carbon footprint and promoting sustainability in the aviation sector,” Alex Reyes, CEB chief strategy officer, said in a statement.
The aircraft used SAF on its delivery flight from Hamburg, Germany, to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
SAF is a drop-in fuel with similar characteristics as conventional jet fuels. It does not require any adaptations to the aircraft or engines and does not have any negative impact on performance. The use of SAF results in up to 80 percent reduction in carbon emissions across the fuel’s lifecycle.
The airline aims to transition to an all-NEO fleet by 2028. Airbus NEOs are the latest-generation aircraft that burn 15 percent less fuel per flight compared to the previous generation.
Meanwhile, with the anticipated surge in traffic volume this Holy Week, CEB is reminding passengers to allot time for traffic going to the airport. Passengers must be at the NAIA Terminal 3 and 4 at least three hours before departure for domestic flights, and four hours for international flights.
Passengers traveling to Dubai are allowed to check in as early as seven hours before departure.
