Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) unit, Cebu Cordova Link Expressway Corp. (CCLEC), will revive its proposal to implement the approximately P28-billion Metro Cebu Expressway project through public-private partnership (PPP).
Allan Galfon, CCLEC president and general manager, said CCLEC sent a letter of intent to implement the project to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) two years ago.
DPWH started the Metro Cebu Expressway in 2017.
“There was already a marketing event done by the DPWH to prospective private investors. They invited Metro Pacific, Prime Infrastructure and then I believe there are other few players,” Galfon said.
At present, CCLEC is still waiting for DPWH’s response toits proposal.
“Part of the alignment is tunneling. There are certain portions in these islands that are watershed areas where you cannot construct over them and you have to tunnel it. What I understand is the bidding will be based on the toll that you can offer,” Galfon said. – Myla Iglesias
