MPCALA Holdings Inc., a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corp., said yesterday it has signed a contract with EEI Corporation and CM Pancho Construction, Inc to complete the construction works for the remaining Cavite segments of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) project in the first half of 2026.
In a statement, MPCALA Holding said that EEI will oversee construction in Subsection 1 from Open Canal to Kawit, while CMPCI will handle Subsection 2 from Governor’s Drive to Open Canal.
This marks another step forward in bringing the full alignment of CALAX closer to completion, ensuring improved connectivity and enhanced mobility for motorists traveling across Cavite and Laguna, two highly populated provinces in southern Luzon.
CALAX is a 45 km expressway with operational segments at Laguna Technopark, Laguna Blvd., Santa Rosa-Tagaytay Road, Silang East, and Silang Aguinaldo Interchange. Its remaining subsections, including Subsection 3 (Silang Aguinaldo to Governor’s Drive), are under active development and are expected to be completed in the first half of 2026.
As of August 25, Department of Public Works and Highways data showed Calax projects had an overall accomplishment rate of 74.07 percent.
Currently, the Laguna segment is now fully operational while the Cavite segmen is ramping up construction works at 42.53 percent completion.
Once fully completed, CALAX is expected to transform mobility within the CALABARZON region, significantly reducing travel time, easing congestion along major thoroughfares, and supporting economic growth.
MPTC is the leading toll road developer and operator in the Philippines and the holding company of premier tollways including North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), CAVITEX, CALAX, NLEX Connector, and CCLEX in Cebu, with investments in Indonesia and Vietnam.
