THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), in collaboration with government agencies and local authorities, will implement stringent measures across all 44 CAAP-managed airports to address the expected surge in passenger traffic during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
CAAP said the measures are in line with the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Pasko 2024 which will run from December 20 to Jan. 3, 2025.
“Our mission is to provide passengers with a seamless and efficient travel experience during this festive season. Through strong collaboration with our partners and the implementation of stringent measures, we are steadfast in ensuring the highest standards of safety, security, and convenience for all,” Capt. Manuel Antonio Tamayo, CAAP director general, said in a statement on Tuesday.
Malasakit Help Desks will be available at all airports to assist travelers, while security personnel and medical teams will remain on heightened alert and standby to address any emergencies.
CAAP said it will closely collaborate with the DOTr, local authorities and key agencies, including the Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Unit, Office of Transportation Security, Department of Tourism, Civil Aeronautics Board and airline operators. These partnerships aim to streamline check-in procedures for greater efficiency and security.
CAAP also reminded passengers to follow regulations to avoid delays, including rules on prohibited items, monitor belongings at all times and avoid making bomb jokes which can result in flight disruptions and severe legal consequences. Plan trips ahead of time and coordinate with the airlines, CAAP added. It also advised passengers to arrive at the airport at least three hours before departure.
