The Court of Appeals (CA) has reaffirmed its December ruling acquitting Japanese Kazuo Okada of estafa.
The case was filed against Okada by Tiger Leisure and Entertainment Inc. management (TRLEI) over his $3-million salary and consultancy fee in 2017 as chairman of Okada Manila Resort and Casino.
The CA has dismissed the motion for reconsideration filed following its ruling on the case in December last year.
The Court ruled the salaries and allowances of Okada received represented just compensation due him for services rendered.
“As a consequence of this decision, the Warrants of Arrest against Kazuo Okada and former COO (chief operating officer) Takahiro Usui have now been recalled and quashed,” Okada’s office said in a statement.
Okada took over the management of Okada Manila anew in May this year after it was granted a status quo ante order by Supreme Court over his expulsion as chairman of the Okada Manila.
