The Bureau of Treasury said it awarded P19.3 billion of the P35 billion 7-year treasury bond reissued Tuesday, with its coupon averaging 4.468 percent.
The bonds, originally issued on August 12, 2021, attracted tenders worth P57.22 billion, more than 1.6x the available bonds. It has a remaining life of 6 years and 9 months.
“The committee was able to raise P19.3 billion bringing the outstanding volume for the series to P189.9 billion,” the Bureau of Treasury said.
National Treasurer Rosalia de Leon said the government opted to partially award the Tbills since the government has already built “sufficient buffers taking advantage when rates were low.”
De Leon said any additional need for cash by the government will be supported by an “improving collections and additional ODA (official development) inflows.”
