The Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) has fully awarded the reissued 10-year treasury bonds auctioned yesterday amid healthy demand for the government securities.

With nine years and five months to maturity, the treasury bonds fetched an average rate of 6.142 percent.

This is lower than the previous average of 6.378 percent when it was last reissued in March 2023.

The auction attracted P44.5 billion in total tenders, 1.8 times the P25 billion offer.

With its decision, the committee raised the full program of P25 billion, bringing the total outstanding volume for the series to P165 billion.

Earlier this week, the BTr’s treasury bills auction ended with mixed results as rates were capped for the 91-day and 182-day securities.

The BTr decided to fully award bids for the 364-day T-bills while partially awarding the three-month and six-month IOUs as investors sought higher rates.

The auction was 1.6 times oversubscribed with total bids reaching P24.6 billion.

With its decision, the committee awarded P13.9 billion of the P15 billion offering. – Angela Celis
