Davao del Norte based civil society group Kilos Pinoy Para sa Pagbabago (KPPP) yesterday said power outages in the province have negatively impacted not only the lives of Dabawenyos but on the operation of businesses.

“Businesses cannot fully operate and serve their customers when there are daily brownouts. The purchase of back-up power supplies or generators is an added expenses which they cannot afford because of the state of their sources of income,” KPPP said in a statement.

The group added the unstable state of power supply in Davao is scaring away investors because of fears that their businesses will not flourish due to the power outages.

“This is unfair to Dabawenyos,” it added.

KPPP has expressed support to calls of several lawmakers to revoke the franchise of the Northern Davao Electric Cooperative for what the group claims is its failure to fulfill its mandate to provide stable electricity in its service area.
